2025 Harvest Limits

The current limits for the 2025 season are:

1 king salmon per person per season

6 silver salmon per person per day

1 halibut per person per day under 37” closed Tuesdays

3 pelagic rockfish (black bass) per person per day

1 lingcod per person  per season 30”-35” and 1 ling per season over 55”.

1 slope rockfish per person per day

I have done a lot of reflection on how the limits have changed over the 37 years I have been in this industry. When I started all those years ago a non-resident could harvest 2 king salmon daily all season long, 2 halibut daily, any size, all season long, there was no limit on lingcod, yellow-eye and all other rockfish. We put lodge limits on them just so there was no abuse. This coming season shows more reductions and these are some of the reasons why… More anglers are coming to Alaska than ever before, more charters and lodges participate in the fishery, and halibut, lingcod and rockfish are slow growing fish.

The good news is that there are still lots of fish to catch! All these species are still abundant here. If limits were still liberal, this would not be the case. We have to look at it from a view of protecting the resource. I think the State of Alaska has done a decent job of doing this. Again, there are still plenty of fish to catch! Going forward it has to be a lot less about what we kill and more about the experience. Fishing light tackle in shallow water for halibut and rockfish is loads of fun! Catching king salmon for their strength and stamina is what every angler dreams about! Taking in the beauty and wildlife in Southeast Alaska are second to none! The adventure is still here and we are looking forward to sharing it with you!  By the way, you will still catch and take home some of the tastiest fish available anywhere.
